IN DARKNESS:

CHARLES (V.O.)

The rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated.

FADE IN:

INT. SOLACE TEMPLE, REDSTONE – FIVE DAYS BEFORE

CHARLES PIERREMONT (34), a Professor of the Investigation of Supernatural Sciences sits speaking into the WEBCAM atop his computer.

CHARLES

Let the record show that I, Professor Charles Pierrepoint, being of sound mind, and body, to enter this video into evidence in the case against me.

Because to be judged by a jury of my peers, I will attempt to insert ‘like’ and ‘totally’ into my confession as much as possible.

(pauses)

So here it goes… I confess I’m, in no small part, to blame for the tragic experiment that has led to the deaths of Redstone University Professor’s Andrew Michaelson and Maximilian Lambert. However, I am responsible physically. Anyone who sees this recording will know that I am no killer, I am not the man I used to be…but I am no killer, either…I am something else! I am recording this video to warn you – everyone – to stay away from The Solace Temple, here in Redstone. To risk your life coming here in the hope of saving me from this curse I have acquired – you’ll be gravely disappointed.

(pauses)

Look, I just need to set the record straight and what better way to do that, than to broadcast it on the Internet. So, here it is —

INT. SOLACE TEMPLE, REDSTONE – EVENING

CHARLES PIERREPOINT sits with his friend and project partner, ANDREW MICHAELSON (30), a dedicated man. It would be safe to say that these men are definitely on the “A List” at their University.

CHARLES

I believe I have found the solution to our problem!

ANDREW

(anxious looking)

Bollocks! There is only one solution to this problem, Charles, and it lies in the deep vaults of this temple…

CHARLES

(shuffles forward in his seat and puts his hands together)

We were lied to Andrew, by the University – I’ll prove it to you…look (rolls up his sleeve to show a spread of blackening skin around his wrist).

ANDREW

What is that, Charles? An infection?

CHARLES attempts to tell ANDREW, but he is interrupted by a voice shouting him from the doorway of the room – MAX DURY (51) – who quickly makes his way over to the two men.

MAX

What are you two talking about?

CHARLES hides the marks with a clasped hand.

CHARLES

I was just telling Andrew that we should check the lower vaults of the temple…

MAX

(demandingly)

The lower vaults! And why would we search the lower vaults, when it’s obvious that the designers of the contagion we are looking for would have taken it with them when they picked up and left? Isn’t it true that they were chased out of Redstone?

CHARLES nods his head.

CHARLES

Then the contagion is lost!

MAX sits down with both CHARLES and ANDREW, his brow showing beads of sweat – unusual to say that the temple was cool, not warm or hot.

CHARLES (CONT’D)

Are you feeling Okay, Max?

MAX sighs deeply, putting his hand into his jacket pocket and taking out a packet of cigarettes and a lighter.

MAX

Just a cold, Charles, nothing to worry about (takes out a cigarette and lights it). What about you two, one more night in this shit hole and then it’s back to the University tomorrow, isn’t it?

ANDREW (TO MAX)

It’s Briarstone for me.

CHARLES is surprised. He didn’t know of ANDREW’s plans.

CHARLES

Briarstone! What’s in Briarstone, Andrew?

ANDREW

Artifacts of the late Caldon, it was sprung on me this afternoon.

CHARLES

Caldon! There is no Caldon, Andrew, it was destroyed!

MAX was quiet – too quiet – for a long paused moment.

MAX

Actually, the short trail that leads through the old Grey Woods has been known to have relics and artifacts left over from the Caldon War, if that’s what it was?

CHARLES and ANDREW look puzzled.

CHARLES

It was a war, believed to have been spurned by the death of Archaos, betrothed to Vorelee…

MAX

(laughs out loudly)

Is that what you really think, Charles that a Goddess wreaked her revenge on The Island because of a God being killed?

CHARLES feels uncomfortable. MAX is now sweating profusely and his eyes are becoming bloodshot as he talks loudly.

ANDREW

They say that Vorelee was in every way beautiful and that her heart was broken when Archaos was slain by a human…

MAX interrupts ANDREW with a blistering shout.

MAX

Human! Humans, according to the ancient texts and scrolls of this god-damned Island, don’t believe that humans can kill a God! (dies out the cigarette on the table, squashing it into the pile of ash it had left). No, if you ask me, it’s all made up bullshit!

CHARLES

If it’s all made up bullshit, Max, then why do you come out on these projects?

MAX

Money! Air! Peace! And, of course, not forgetting… (coughs)…and, of course, not forgetting the perks of the job!

CHARLES

Perks, Max?

MAX

(yelps)

Fuck yeah! Do you remember the last place those cunts sent us to, the one in the mid-west quarter of nowhere, that small village of Odsly-what’s-it’s-name? (clicks his fingers)

CHARLES jogs his memory.

CHARLES

Okston!

MAX

(gestures a bow)

That’s the one, Okston, where we were supposed to find some illusive ancient Vampire Clan…

CHARLES

We did find an ancient Vampire Clan, Max, you nearly got eaten by one, remember?

CHARLES was becoming worried about MAX; the cough he had started with was worsening, as was his temperament.

MAX

No, Charles, that…whatever that was that attacked me, that wasn’t a Vampire. (coughs) People are afflicted with a lot of shit we don’t understand, you should know that. (stands to his feet). I didn’t see any fangs, did you?

CHARLES

You’re right, I didn’t see any fangs, but I saw the bodies and other creepy shit there!

MAX was tired. Making his way back to the door he gave a backward wave, his head tilting to his shoulder to shout.

MAX

Everything we do for these people is creepy shit, Charles, you should know that by now. I’ll see you two in the morning.

MAX exits the room.

ANDREW

What the hell was all that about?

CHARLES

(shrugs his shoulders)

I have no idea, maybe he’s coming down with something…

ANDREW

Attitude by the looks of it! (laughs cautiously). Well, I think I’m going to call it a night, too, Charles, you know, get an early start at packing all the stuff?

CHARLES

(sits back in his seat)

Maybe you’re right. I’M going to go check the lower passages before I turn in for the night, maybe I’ll find something of Scientific fact and relevance – you never know?

Standing from his seat, ANDREW shakes his head and makes his way to the door. Stopping suddenly, he turns to CHARLES with a worried look.

ANDREW

The mark on your wrist!

CHARLES

A bruise, nothing to worry about, Andrew. I’ll see you in the morning?

ANDREW nods silently.

ANDREW

Goodnight Charles.

CHARLES

Goodnight Andrew.

FADE OUT.

FADE IN:

INT. SALURIS VAULT, SOLACE TEMPLE – EVENING

CHARLES has ventured down into the Lower Vaults of The Solace Temple, his high beam torch lighting his way as he walks through the narrow tunnels that join up to a larger room – SALURIS’ VAULT.

The torchlight catches a wall that reflects something of a strange blue tint, but certainly nothing that deters him from approaching it and investigating.

CHARLES

(curious)

And what might you be?

Charles walks up to the wall, taking out a small pocket knife and pulling out the blade. Pushing the point into the side of a blue piece of metal, he is suddenly pushed back with extreme force – the torch hurls into the air.

Hitting the ground hard CHARLES is knocked unconscious.

The wall which he was observing has been shattered, now only a hole leading into a dark alcove stands with falling debris and dust. The air is eerily silent, except for the sound of falling stones, rubble and edgings of the hole.

We see CHARLES on the ground – still unconscious – as from the side of him a darkened large figure moves closer to him; a lengthened shadow at first, then a side profile of what appears to be a furred animal. A long shot shows this animal like creature to be a large dog – WOLF!

Suddenly regaining consciousness as the animal leans over him, CHARLES looks up with terror in his face – he is mortified by the sheer size of the animal.

CHARLES

(whispers with a tear)

No…please…NOOOOOOO!

The animal strikes. Snaps, but misses his face, claws into his chest, tearing his flesh, while repositioning itself to make another attempt at his throat.

Behind both CHARLES and the animal a gunshot is heard thundering into the gasping breaths and growls of man and beast – a moment later and the animal collapses onto CHARLES. It is dead.

CHARLES again passes out into unconsciousness.

FADE TO BLACK.

FADE IN:

CHARLES has been unconscious for five (5) days, while being tended by a woman – LILY BRAXTON (28) – he has never seen her before. CHARLES is laid up on a make-shift bed that the woman has organized for him to rest on.

INT. SOLACE TEMPLE, GALEOS CHAMBER, REDSTONE – AFTERNOON

CHARLES regains consciousness for the first time since his attack by the animal to see a woman looking him in the face, her blue eyes relaxed – pleased to see him awake.

LILY

Welcome back from the grave, you’ve been in and out of consciousness for days. I’m Lily, how do you feel?

CHARLES attempts to raise himself onto his elbows, but LILY stops him, pushing him back gently.

LILY (CONT’D)

Easy! You’ve been attacked!

CHARLES

(shocked)

Attacked!

LILY stands up and walks a short distance to a small table where she picks up a syringe and returns to his side.

LILY

(checks the syringe)

This is an antibiotic, for the wounds you received from the Lycon. You’re lucky to be alive, most victims die…

CHARLES raises an objective hand.

CHARLES

Lycon! You mean…

LILY interrupts him while finally injecting the drug into his arm – CHARLES winces with the sharp pain.

LILY

If you’re going to say Werewolf, I’d much prefer its proper name, rather than a Fairy-tale tag that I for one know is far from being as cuddly and friendly. The one that attacked you, that was different.

CHARLES

But Lycon’s don’t exist!

LILY

(laughs)

Of course they don’t, that’s why you have deep wounds all across your chest, Mr….?

CHARLES looks down at the bandages wrapped around his chest before looking back up at LILY.

CHARLES

Pierrepoint, Charles Pierrepoint. How did you find me? Where are the others?

LILY is puzzled at CHARLES’s claim of others being in the Temple. She falls silent with a low bow.

CHARLES (CONT’D)

Michaelson and Lambert, my associates, where are they?

LILY

I found only you down in the vault, Mr. Pierrepoint, and the Lycon that you killed.

CHARLES is confused.

CHARLES

I didn’t kill that animal!

LILY

Then maybe it was one of your friends, but I can assure you, there were no other people there when I found you. What can you remember?

CHARLES searches his mind to try and remember the attack – it is painful for him. He shakes his head and turns away from LILY.

LILY walks over to a camping stove that she has set up to pour a cup of coffee from a boiled kettle.

LILY

It’s Okay, like I said, you were attacked, maybe it’ll all come back to you in time. (walks back to CHARLES) Here, have a drink of this, it’ll wake you up a little from the antibiotics.

CHARLES turns and looks at the cup, shakes his head with a silent refusal and then lays down flat looking up at the ceiling.

CHARLES

So, who are you, exactly? How is it that you’re here at the Temple?

LILY

I’m an Archaeologist, Mr. Pierrepoint…

CHARLES interrupts her with a warm smile.

CHARLES

Charles, please, call me Charles

LILY

(smiles back)

Alright, Charles, I am an Archaeologist, from Bryn. I was here looking for relics of an ancient world they call Turin!

CHARLES shows a knowing look.

CHARLES

I’ve heard of Turin, it was lost when the Goddess Vorelee destroyed Caldon and began her vengeance on The Island. Some say that Turin is in the High North, and exists in a time that is lost to everyone.

LILY

That’s one story.

CHARLES raises an eyebrow.

CHARLES

As far as I’m concerned, and no offense to your intelligence, Lily, but it is the only story. I’m a Scientist…

Again, LILY interrupts CHARLES.

LILY

Ah, you’re one of those people! I should have realized when I told you of the Lyconadon!

CHARLES

Lyconadon! Excuse me, but there is no such animal – and I would know.

LILY

(agitated, angry)

Really! Well, let me tell you, Mr. Pierrepoint, you seem very limited in what you know, no disrespect…

Now CHARLES interrupts LILY with a frown and an effort to get up off of the camp bed to his feet.

CHARLES

Limited…Let me tell you, this whole area is steeped in history, much of it I know about (swings his legs out of the bed). If you are looking for Turin, you’re a hundred miles in the wrong direction and a million miles away from the truth, Miss. Braxton!

LILY is suddenly shocked – cautious – by the way in which CHARLES has addressed her formally. She did not introduce herself with her surname.

LILY

How did you know my name?

CHARLES gives a mischievous smile that annoys her. He then shakes his head from side to side and looks down at his feet before pointing a finger at her chest.

CHARLES

The label on your lapel gave it away slightly

LILY

(embarrassed)

You are very observant, Mr. Pierrepoint, but you fail to see the situation as it is!

CHARLES

Which is, Miss. Braxton?

LILY

The legend of the Lycon tells of the victim transforming into the very beast that attacked them…

CHARLES bursts out laughing very loudly.

CHARLES

Oh, come on, you really are an Archaeologist, aren’t you? That is a story that traveller’s tell the people for amusement and payment on entertainment. If there was any truth in it, then we would have seen a hell of a lot more people in fur than humans!

LILY falls silent while drinking her coffee, until finally CHARLES calms down his laughter and turns to her.

CHARLES (CONT’D)

I’m sorry, maybe I should go and leave you to your…digging and stuff! (notices a relic laying at the side of LILY’s rucksack). What’s that? (points).

LILY

Nothing.

CHARLES

I wouldn’t call that nothing, Miss. Braxton, its The Sebut Cal’Ture, isn’t it?

LILY is impressed that CHARLES knows what the relic is.

LILY

(LILY picks up the relic and holds it in her hands)

They say that it gives the owner an unlimited amount of power, though I don’t think it is true.

CHARLES

Good, at least that’s something that we both agree on. But, I have to add, there is a segment of the relic missing!

LILY looks at the relic in her hands, checking it entirely until finding that CHARLES is right.

LILY

The Cudrel Stone is missing!

CHARLES

Well, I wouldn’t exactly say it’s missing, as such, more the fact that the stone has been separated from the rest of the vessel.

LILY

Isn’t that the same as missing?

CHARLES

If you help me up I will give you your day, Miss. Braxton, I need to get the hell out of here and look for my associates.

LILY puts out a hand and helps CHARLES to his feet.

LILY

I would suggest waiting another twenty-four hours at least, before you even think about going back to civilization, Mr. Pierrepoint.

CHARLES

Why? Because of some legend that was started eons ago by Heretics who knew no better, or because you want to feel safer knowing I’m not one of those Sheekan’s?

LILY is offended. She turns away from CHARLES and struts across the floor to the camping stove, refills her cup and turns to face him with a cold stare.

LILY

Three years ago, a group of Archaeologist’s, including myself, went to Nasperine. It was supposed to have been a single days dig for what they called The Lagint Cusp, a small amulet that once belonged to one of the Gods. While we were there, three of the group were attacked and killed by an unknown species of Sheekan…it was a lot larger than any previous species, more organized in its attack, which brought us to hiring a few local Mercenaries. The Sheekan that attacked the campsite was killed by the soldiers we hired, its remains transported to the city of Seacliffe, where many of the best scientists conducted an autopsy.

CHARLES

An autopsy on a Sheekan…the soldiers killed it? What did they use, an Arc Light?

LILY

The Sheekan they killed was a new breed, it was protected by something that was unidentified, except for one thing. When those victims of my group were taken away and their bodies tested, it was discovered that they didn’t die from the attack on them, because the new breed of Sheekan had only paralyzed them to an extent that their vital signs indicated them as dead…they were still alive!

CHARLES is stunned by the story.

CHARLES

Alive! I always believed that an attack by a Sheekan always rendered the victim dead!

LILY

And so did I, until the autopsy report brought back strange data that would change history of these Creatic’s forever…!

CHARLES interrupts LILY with a raised poised hand.

CHARLES

Hang on, what the hell is a Creatic?

LILY

It is what the residents of The Island call the beasts that roam the lands, and not without good reason either. A Creatic is what attacked you, Mr. Pierrepoint, and the chances are, you are infected with a powerful venom that could well see your biology change…but to what degree, I fear to imagine. So please, let me observe you, just for another twenty-four hours, and then, if you’re Okay, I will allow you to leave and be on your way!

CHARLES laughs while turning back to take a hold of his jacket from the bed, returning his eyes to LILY, who is standing holding a gun to his head.

CHARLES is suddenly surprised – where did she get a hold of a .50 Desert Eagle Long slide handgun from?

CHARLES

Are you going to shoot an unarmed man, Miss. Braxton?

LILY nods her head while pulling back the hammer of the Desert Eagle and repositioning the sights.

CHARLES (CONT’D)

Okay, so you believe all this stuff about Werewolves and Vampires, I get that…

LILY interrupts him.

LILY

No.

CHARLES

No! You don’t believe in Werewolves and Vampires, and yet, here you are pointing a gun in my face.

LILY

No, I don’t believe in Werewolves and Vampires, Mr. Pierrepoint, but I do believe in Lyconadon’s.

CHARLES

And the difference is?

LILY

Lyconadon’s are Creatic, Werewolves and Vampires are mythical. If I allow you to leave this sanctuary, Mr. Pierrepoint, I may well be unleashing death upon our world…and that I cannot allow to happen.

Waving the Desert Eagle as a suggestion for CHARLES to sit back down on the bed, he obeys with a sigh.

CHARLES

Alright, Miss. Braxton…Lily, here’s the deal. I will remain here as your hostage…

LILY

You’re not a hostage

CHARLES

Prisoner then, if you prefer

LILY

I have no idea what you are yet, Mr. Pierrepoint, but you are most definitely insistent on making it harder for me not to shoot you right now! Sit there and be quiet, please?

CHARLES does as she asks. Laying back on the bed he stares up into the air, looking at the ceiling while falling into deep thought.

LILY holds the gun tightly in her hands, her occasional glances from CHARLES to the open window into the daylight bringing questions to CHARLES’ mind as to why.

CHARLES

Have you ever shot a gun before, Lily? I mean, that looks rather big for you…heavy, maybe?

LILY does not answer, but stares blankly at CHARLES.

CHARLES (CONT’D)

I would sure like to know what happened to my team, because for all I know, they could be out there right now needing my help against more of those things that attacked me…!

LILY breaks her stare and stands up.

LILY

Would you object to me restraining you, Mr. Pierrepoint?

CHARLES nods his head in a dead-set manner that has LILY strike him once across the jaw with the handgun, knocking him out instantly.

LILY towers over his unconscious body, making sure that he is out cold and unable to react to her applying a pair of handcuffs to both his wrists.

LILY

I thought so! Sleep well, Mr. Pierrepoint, with luck I’m wrong and this will all be over very soon. If not…well, I’m sure you would thank me for what I have to do. (checks the handcuffs to make sure they are secure). You stay here while I go and see if I can find your friends.

Making sure that CHARLES is comfortable on the bed, LILY makes her way to the room, glancing back to double check that he is still unconscious before continuing.

CUT TO:

FADE IN:

INT. SOLACE TEMPLE – CORRIDOR. EVENING

We see LILY walking slowly up the long, dim lit corridor, the gun in her hands pointing the way to a strange orange flicker from a door that is ajar up ahead.

Instinctively, she moves up to the wall, slowing her steps until finally reaching the door and looking through the ample size crack, seeing an oil burner lamp sitting on an empty table.

LILY

(whispers to herself)

Stay calm, Lily!

Counting down in her head from 3 to 1, she grabs a hold of the door and pulls it open sharply before again pointing the gun in front of her. Scanning the room quickly she sees nothing – nobody – the room is empty.

MATCH CUT TO:

INT. SOLACE TEMPLE – RESEARCH ROOM. EVENING

Walking over to the oil burning lamp, she sets the gun down upon the table and begins searching the rest of the room for any clues as to why the lamp is burning and of who it would be using the room.

Across from the table LILY sees a pile of papers strewn across a desk. She is curious enough to walk over and look through them.

LILY

(holds several papers in her hands)

This is from The University of Supernatural Sciences…Charles Pierrepoint’s team was here, but where are they?

Suddenly, from behind her she hears a familiar sound that has her stop perfectly still; the hammer of a weapon has been cocked.

LILY

(calls out)

Whoever you are, I’m not alone!

MAX

Who are you?

LILY

I’m the owner of that gun you’re pointing at my head, who are you?

MAX steps forward, the gun concentrated on LILY.

MAX

My name is Max, where’s Charles Pierrepoint? Have you killed him?

LILY

If he was dead, then I guess it would have been from your hand, not mine!

MAX laughs out loudly.

MAX

(dryly)

Turn around.

LILY turns around slowly to see that MAX is drained of natural colour, his skin is blackened, he is sweating, eyes bloodshot and sunken, as if he has a cold or flu. He doesn’t look good.

LILY

(gasps a cry)

You look like shit!

MAX

Are you a Doctor?

LILY

I don’t think it’s a Doctor you need, Max…have you been bitten?

MAX looks surprised, slightly confused.

LILY steps closer, but is stopped by MAX’s sudden flick of the handgun.

MAX

Why are you here? Where are the rest of my team?

MAX becomes weaker. The handling of the weapon begins to falter as he staggers to a nearby chair and slumps down.

LILY

Let me help you?

MAX

It’s too late to help me. The papers you are holding have all the facts that the world needs…I just hope that you don’t meet the same fate as I did…

LILY attempts to walk over to MAX, but is met with the barrel of the gun. MAX gives a weak nod, and then turning the gun on himself, he pulls the trigger, blowing his brains out all over the wall behind him. His body, forced back with the gunshot tumbles to the floor – he is dead.

LILY gasps and turns away with shock.

After a few moments she turns back to MAX, he is laid slumped across the floor with the gun still gripped in his hand. It is a sight that makes LILY feel sick – though she manages to keep it together and get the gun from MAX’s hand while looking at him.

LILY

(whispers)

What the hell happened to you, Max? (looks at his neck). What the hell is that?

LILY returns quickly to the desk, grabbing hold of more papers, before turning and leaving the room to return to CHARLES down the corridor.

CUT TO:

INT. SOLACE TEMPLE – GALEOS CHAMBER, REDSTONE. EVENING

Inside The Galeos Chamber where CHARLES is still laid unconscious on the bed, we see his eyelids move erratically. His legs are twitching, his hands clenching and flexing violently – a bad dream, perhaps?

From the doorway LILY finally returns and rushes over to him, pulling him up and resting his head onto her chest while looking down and slapping him gently on his cheeks to wake him.

LILY

(calls out loudly)

Charles! Charles! Come on wake up!

Shaking himself out of the state, he looks up into LILY’s eyes, a look that at first scares the young woman.

CHARLES

Lily! What…where am I?

LILY

You’re in the Galeos’s Chamber of The Solace Temple, Charles…you have to snap out of it!

CHARLES

I was dreaming…I think?

LILY

You’re friend, Max, he’s dead! I don’t know where the other man is, but we have to get the hell out of here…he was infected with something – something bad!

CHARLES gathers enough strength to be able to sit up on his own and move away slightly from LILY. He is trying to take in her words.

CHARLES

Infected! With what?

LILY

(shrugs her shoulders)

I don’t know, but I have these notes here, Max says that it is the records and facts of what has happened (hands them to CHARLES).

CHARLES flicks through the papers and stops at one paper in particular, his eyes showing concern.

LILY (CONT’D)

What is it? What’s wrong?

CHARLES

These are the Test Results from the experiment we were conducting inside the…!

LILY interrupts.

LILY

An experiment? What kind of experiment?

CHARLES hands LILY the paper and wrestles himself to his feet, while LILY scans the document. As she reads through the report, CHARLES notices the change in her, as she slowly reaches out for the gun that she had placed down near the pillow – it is no longer there.

Turning to face CHARLES, she is met with the barrel of the handgun. CHARLES looks pretty proud of himself for getting a hold of the weapon without her noticing.

CHARLES

That report and those papers can’t make it back to the University, you do understand that, don’t you?

LILY

And what about me? Am I included in that, too? Are you going to silence me with a bullet?

CHARLES

(nods his head)

Unfortunately, I have no choice, Lily. If there was any other way, then I would allow you to live…

LILY

Really?

CHARLES

No, I’m just messing with you! I don’t need to kill you, Lily, I need you to get those papers and yourself as far away from here as you can. Go to the University and give them to a Professor Gordon Roe, he’ll know what to do with them.

LILY

And will he kill me?

CHARLES is puzzled as to why the word “KILL” is being thrown around the room all of a sudden. He walks up to LILY with a vacant look and hands her the gun. LILY is not only surprised by the action, but also curious as to “WHY?”.

CHARLES

I believe this is yours?

LILY

Sympathy?

CHARLES

Trust. I’ve never shot a woman in cold blood in my life, and I don’t intend to kill one now, so, if you please, take it and put it away in a safe place. It’s getting dark outside, too late to travel back to Redstone. I take it you have the key for these cuffs?

LILY

(smiles)

Alright, Mr. Pierrepoint (takes from her top blouse pocket a small key and hands), give me your hands?

CHARLES puts out his hands and LILY releases him of the handcuffs.

The dark glow of the sunset is resting on the window of the room, while inside the temperature was starting to become cold very quickly.

Turning to the camping stove, CHARLES grabs a hold of the water bottle, filling the kettle and putting it onto the burning stove to boil. LILY makes her way over and sits down by his side, she too, helping with the making and preparing of a hot drink by taking a hold of the cups.

LILY

I’m sorry for knocking you out earlier, Charles…I didn’t know what else to do?

CHARLES remains quiet while fiddling about with the kettle over the heated flame. Again, LILY attempts to apologize, but CHARLES interrupts her.

LILY

Look, if we…

CHARLES

Max! How did he die?

LILY pauses her attempt on an apology, and shakes her head from side to side.

LILY

He shot himself.

CHARLES

Shot himself! Where did he get the gun from to shoot himself?

LILY

(pats her chest)

A moment of forgetfulness. I guess if I hadn’t have gone looking for them, he would still be alive now.

CHARLES

He was already dead! The test results of the experiment shows that the infection overwhelmed the hosts vital organs, it sped up the process, but not for success.

LILY

Success! Success of what, exactly?

CHARLES

The Kosol Virus, an old style contagion that was brought under control around fifty years ago by the use of Mulsten…!

LILY interrupts CHARLES with a loud gasp.

LILY

Mulsten! Oh My God! That’s a poison in itself, isn’t it?

CHARLES nods silently.

LILY (CONT’D)

So, this Kosol Virus, what symptoms does it show, exactly?

CHARLES

The virus itself breaks down the molecular structure of the human body, blackening the skin…!

CHARLES stops and looks at his wrists – Nothing.

LILY

What’s wrong? Have you got the virus?

CHARLES

(amazed)

No, not anymore it would seem!

LILY is scared by not only the sudden confession that he had the virus, but also at the fact that she had made body contact with him over the past several days.

LILY

Before Max died, his whole body was blackened, he looked like he had the flu, but for the bite on his neck!

CHARLES

Bite! What bite?

LILY

I don’t know, it looked like a snake bite, or canine puncture…

CHARLES silences her with an outstretched hand.

CHARLES

The experiment was meant for one subject, as it was written by the people who lived in this temple a long time ago. The University had a special injection device that was made up of two small rods, one to inject the Mulsten into the main artery and the other, to inject a serum into the muscle. The question is, why would Max have injected himself, when the test subject was…

LILY interrupts him.

LILY

You?

CHARLES nods.

CHARLES

Yes, but by looking at me, it seems it didn’t take. Earlier today I had a blackening around my wrist, one sure sign that it was working.

LILY

I don’t understand! You said Max was going to die from it, so why would you risk killing yourself by taking it? (looks into CHARLES’s eyes) What is The Kosol Virus, Charles?

CHARLES turns away in an attempt to ignore the question.

LILY (CONT’D)

Charles! What is The Kosol Virus? Answer me!

CHARLES

Okay, it’s…it’s an age suppressant that reverses the biological clock against growing old. We found the formula, or half of it at the last place we were working and gave our suggestion to the University to check it out.

LILY

And where was this place you found the formula?

CHARLES

Okston, it’s…!

LILY

I know of Okston, Charles, it’s where the Vampire Clan of The Dawn Seeker’s rule, or they did!

CHARLES laughs mockingly.

CHARLES

Didn’t you say Mythical, earlier?

LILY

Alright, so I said Mythical, but of course now, you and I know that facts matter, right?

CHARLES

What aren’t you telling me, Lily?

LILY

You were attacked and survived one of the most deadliest Creatic’s on this Island, after you injected yourself with Vampiric blood – that is what Mulsten is, isn’t it Charles?

CHARLES gives a low nod.

LILY

Your friend, Max, he injects himself with the same venom, only he wasn’t attacked by the Creatic, which tells us that the contagion you designed was incomplete.

CHARLES

Like I said, the formula was only half complete when we found it.

LILY

Then why risk your life using it?

CHARLES

(sighs deeply)

Science. To discover such a drug as Youth, wouldn’t you risk your life by testing it first?

LILY can’t believe what she is hearing. She is angered by CHARLES’ whole attitude to the reckless experiment.

LILY

Humans have lusted after more than what had been given to them for thousands of years; riches, objects, power and mortal life. What you have right now, Charles, is something that would be embraced by those who once resided within these walls, and yet, you would willingly throw all of that away in the name of your science?

CHARLES

You speak as though you would let it go in a moment, if you had the exact same choice?

LILY

Living forever is a long time to be walking this world, or any other for that matter. The Gods that walked these lands were all worshiped because they couldn’t die, until one day…if you are searching for immortality, then you are looking in all the wrong places, Charles.

The kettle on the stove boils out. CHARLES takes a hold of it by the red hot heated handle and pours the water into the cups, while LILY looks bewildered at his hand.

LILY (CONT’D)

Do you feel that, Charles?

CHARLES looks down at his hand on the handle, the hot burning of his flesh creating smoke that has him let it go. The kettle hits the stove awkward and bounces away onto the floor.

CHARLES

What the…! (looks at his hand, it is neither hurt or scolded) Why is my hand…!

LILY takes a hold of his hand and looks it over. The scold heals right before her eyes, but she is not surprised).

LILY

We need to move!

CHARLES

Where to? We can’t go anywhere, it’s getting dark outside, in case you haven’t noticed?

LILY

The lower vaults, it’s our only chance. Come on, give me a hand packing?

CHARLES discards the drinks, while starting to pack up the stove and a few other things into bags and boxes. As soon as the two had finished packing everything, CHARLES turns to LILY and gives a smile, one which falls suddenly when he feels a sharp pain in the side of his neck – an injection from a needle – that takes immediately effect in knocking him unconscious.

LILY

I’m sorry, Charles, it is the only way that you will understand!

FADE TO BLACK.

A week has passed since the incident at The Solace Temple. Twelve days since the Creatic attack on CHARLES – seven days since the suicide of MAX, and the strange vanishing of ANDREW.

FADE IN:

INT. OKSTON PRIORY MANOR, RESHEEN. MORNING

We see CHARLES wake in a normal way, as though everything has been a bad dream that he now wakes from in a double bed to give a relaxing stretch and yawn.

By his side he sees a woman – KATSIA (19) – who is turned away from him, her dark hair reaching down her back, while on a more closer look he sees she is naked.

Lifting the covers slightly CHARLES sees that he, too, is also naked. He is sent into thought, until noticing the scars on his chest: four short cuts from his shoulder to his abdomen. They have healed almost completely.

From the side of the bed sitting comfortably is a second woman – CREYA (43) – who speaks out softly to him.

CREYA

Good morning, Charles, I trust you slept well?

CHARLES

(turns to the voice)

What the…!

CREYA

Relax, it’s alright, you’re safe. How do you feel?

CHARLES is in a state of flux.

CHARLES

I feel fine. Who are you? Who is this woman? Am I dead?

CREYA laughs playfully.

CREYA

Not quite, but you were very close to it, so Lily tells us. She saved your life!

CHARLES

Lily…she did something to me at the Temple…

CREYA interrupts him with a soft spoken Shush!

CREYA

Like I said, she saved your life. Though I don’t believe you asked her to, but she did it anyway. Do you know where you are?

CHARLES looks around the room, seeing a large open bay window where he can see outside into the sun drenched street. With a slight squint he notices a sign above a shop window: OKSTON DELI. His reaction is swift and immediate.

CHARLES

(panic’s)

I can’t be here!

CREYA rushes over to him, comforting him and stopping him from getting out of the bed. KATSIA wakes and helps CREYA, before CHARLES quickly calms and becomes relaxed again.

Once he is settled once more, CREYA instructs KATSIA to take her leave with a single nod, to which she slips out from the bedclothes and makes her way slowly across the floor, her naked body glowing with the sunlight from the window as she leaves and closes the door behind her.

CREYA

Lily took a great risk bringing you here to us, Charles, so maybe when you next see her, you will be polite…yes?

CHARLES

Who are you?

CREYA

I am a friend of Lily, she brought you to me so that I could help you with your transition, shall we say.

(pauses)

I must admit, that at first, I was doubtful you would survive the journey, but that all changed when finally I saw the mark of The Lyconadon that you bare on your body. You are the first in almost eight generations to pass The Luna Celeste stage and survive…I am but impressed!

CHARLES feels uncomfortable suddenly. The fear is very noticeable in his eyes.

CHARLES

The Luna Celeste, what is that?

CREYA

I will explain everything to you very soon, but for now, you must rest, so that you have all your strength for the coming days. I will send Katsia for you as soon as you have had some more sleep, and, if you wish, I will have some food brought up?

CHARLES is hungry, his hand moves down to find his rumbling stomach before nodding an acknowledgment.

CHARLES

That is very kind of you…(begs the name of the woman).

CREYA

My name is Creya, I am the Overseer here in Okston. Now, rest and I will see you soon, Mr. Pierrepoint.

Standing from her seat CREYA straightens her clothing and makes her way to the bedroom door, stopping for a moment to turn back to CHARLES.

CREYA

People here in Okston, they have a very long memory, Mr. Pierrepoint, so I would suggest you don’t leave without saying goodbye!

CHARLES

Strange you should say that, Creya, because so have I, and the way I see it this is the last place I want to be…

CREYA

And yet, here you are!

CHARLES is baited by the statement.

CHARLES

Like you said, I didn’t ask Lily to save me, she would have been as well leaving me in that temple and making for the hills. If anyone is to blame, then it is Lily Braxton!

CREYA gives a sigh before opening the bedroom door and making her exit.

CREYA

Get some rest and we will talk soon (leaves and closes the door).

As soon as CREYA has left, CHARLES gets out of bed, his whole body hurting from the wounds and length of time lying on his back. He finds it hard to stand on his feet at first, his legs stiff and his weight upon them forcing him to stagger as he makes his way to the open window.

He looks out into the street seeing that there is very little changed since his last visit there; the darkened silence, the dreary buildings, hapless people passing by and the smell of both rotting flesh and blood hanging in the air.

CHARLES

Unbelievable! Of all the fucking places in the world and I have to end up here. Great!

CHARLES staggers back to his bed, where he happens to notice a small picture on the wall, a photograph that shows a group of people standing at an entrance of a big house (this house) and they are holding up rifles.

MOMENTS LATER

From the bedroom door a shallow knock is given before from the hallway KATSIA walks in, seeing him naked and not making her flinch one bit. She has a tray in her hands, which she carries past him to the bedside table before putting it down.

KATSIA

I would have thought you would want to sleep, Mr. Pierrepoint?

CHARLES returns to the bed and sits down heavily.

CHARLES

How long have I been here?

KATSIA

A week. Would you like me to tend to your wounds, Mr. Pierrepoint?

CHARLES is not in the mood to talk. He nods his head only to confirm the request, while lying down on his back and staring up at the ceiling.

KATSIA

(whispers softly)

When you arrived, you were not so welcomed by our Prefects. They said you are a killer of our people here in Okston…

CHARLES

Are you a Vampire, Katsia?

KATSIA

Are you a killer?

CHARLES nods his head from side to side and smiles.

CHARLES

Fair question, I suppose. I’m a scientist, a man of an open mind and sense, not of superstition and the occult…well, actually, I am, but not to the level people here take it!

KATSIA

Lily says you were attacked by a Lyconadon, Mr. Pierrepoint…!

CHARLES throws KATSIA a hard glare, but then softens it to a more relaxed stare.

CHARLES

I’m sorry, I’m just…I’m not sure what happened to me at the temple. All I know is that I haven’t turned into a Werewolf yet, so Lily was wrong in her assumption.

KATSIA is grinning.

KATSIA

Well, I believe you, Mr. Pierrepoint, you are definitely not a Werewolf!

CHARLES becomes settled all of a sudden by the young woman’s words of support, something that is both soothing and reassuring to his mind.

CHARLES

Thank you, Katsia, and please, call me Charles. It’s been such a long time since anyone has talked to me without picking an argument. (turns to look at the bay window).

KATSIA takes a damp cloth from the tray before placing it onto CHARLES’s chest and bathing the wounds gently, her hand not as much as trembling to the tending of the scars.

CHARLES turns back and looks at her with a stare that says he is comfortable with her actions.

KATSIA

Can I ask you something Mr….I mean, Charles?

CHARLES

Sure

KATSIA

Do you remember the attack?

For a moment CHARLES looks mortified by the question, though it isn’t the question that has brought the sudden pale expression. He holds back a little before relaxing and searching his mind.

CHARLES

I don’t really remember the attack, just…the pain!

KATSIA

It was quick?

CHARLES

I guess so, I’m still alive to tell the tale… (becomes worried). It’s odd that the beast was killed before it could tear my throat out!

KATSIA puts the cloth back on the tray and takes a hold of a clean dry towel that she dabs on CHARLES’s moist skin, the movement of her hands, the touch of skin on skin making him close his eyes and moan quietly.

KATSIA

They say that the Lyconadon is an ancient Creatic, one which cannot be killed simply by any method other than an Arc Light of a God! (puts the towel back on the tray and begins to caress his chest). Whoever, or whatever killed the beast that attacked you, maybe they were a God?

CHARLES flicked his eyes open and grabbed a hold of KATSIA’s hand, stopping her from going any further.

CHARLES

No offense, but what I saw and what attacked me, that was no Lyconadon, it was a wolf! A big wolf that saw me as a threat to its habitat, that’s all…

KATSIA

Wolf! (pauses and continues to caress CHARLES’s chest). The Sheekan’s and Feshen’s have killed all the Wolves around this land, those that still roam Resheen are just lucky.

CHARLES gives a low laugh.

CHARLES

Then luck brought me face to face with a Wolf, which is better than a Sheekan and Feshen, don’t you think, Katsia?

KATSIA moves her hand down lower to CHARLES’s waist, the tension and hesitation of her going further indicating in her fingers. Again, CHARLES stops her, only this time he takes a hold of her hands and pulls her toward him.

For a long paused moment they both look into each others eyes – deeply – before CHARLES grabs KATSIA’s hair at the back of her head. He gives a fiery look.

KATSIA

Why do you hold back?

CHARLES

My question?

KATSIA looks puzzled.

KATSIA

Question, Charles?

CHARLES

Are you?

KATSIA

Am I?

CHARLES

A Vampire?

KATSIA laughs out while jumping up onto CHARLES and straddling his legs.

KATSIA

Would you like me to be a Vampire, Charles?

CHARLES

Would you like me to be a Werewolf, Katsia?

KATSIA

But you’re not a Werewolf!

CHARLES sighs.

CHARLES

I know…

KATSIA lowers her face down close to CHARLES.

KATSIA

You’re a Lyconadon. It is me who is a Werewolf, Charles!

CHARLES

(laughs while grabbing her by the hair and pulls her down closer)

Of course you are! (kisses her deeply on the lips).

CUT TO:

INT. OKSTON MANOR – LOUNGE. MORNING

We see CREYA with several other people in the Lounge downstairs: Peta Lavelle (26), Sule Jarz (30), Silas Muir (38) and Elaine Davidson (30).

SULE is showing the group a small relic which he has acquired from a recent expedition to Nasperine, while PETA is somehow offended by the sight of the object.

SULE (TO PETA)

It is, as I understand the story behind the relic, thousands of years old…maybe ten.

PETA (TO SULE)

I will pay you whatever you wish just to destroy it…!

CREYA gives a warming smile.

CREYA (TO PETA)

Oh, please Peta, does it offend you that much? (walks over to PETA and takes a hold of her hand). Is there something about the relic that offends you – your taste, perhaps? (laughs out loudly as everyone, except PETA starts laughing too).

PETA (TO CREYA)

(becomes annoyed)

You should watch your manners, dear Cousin! The way I see it, having that Creatic in our home…

CREYA stops laughing abruptly, her eyes showing anger, while silence falls upon the room. With a sudden raised hand to the others, CREYA squeezes PETA’s hand until PETA cries with pain and pulls away from CREYA.

CREYA (TO PETA)

And you should watch your mouth, Cousin! Are you not still alive because of my interactions when the Hunter’s came to take your head?

PETA (TO CREYA)

(angry)

An interaction I am still living to regret! Don’t ever touch me again, Creya, or it will be your…!

CREYA screams out a loud below that scares everyone in the room, more so PETA.

CREYA (TO PETA)

DO NOT TRY ME! I will not… (calms a little) I will not be talked down to like that, Peta, not in my own house. Do you understand?

PETA is shaken by the tone. She confirms with a nod.

CREYA (TO PETA)

Good. (pauses) Now, the relic (turns to SULE), I would like you to take it to the Baron in Bryn, have him buy it for his collection of odd and weird. I’m sure he will give you an attractive price for it, Sule.

SULE is happy with the information, he bows and puts the relic away inside a small case by the side of him.

CREYA turns to PETA and smiles with a distant hint of anger still present, while walking to the door.

CREYA (TO PETA)

Lily will be returning soon, I would like you to accompany her as soon as she does to see our guest. (to everyone) Please excuse me, I have a dog to tame!

The room erupts into laughter, except for PETA, who nods wearily before turning to SULE and ELAINE.

CREYA exits.

ELAINE (TO PETA)

(playfully giggles)

That was quite a spanking you had, Peta, not as bad as the time you switched her Blood Wine, however!

PETA shakes her head at the comment.

PETA (TO ELAINE)

My Cousin is preoccupied with her new pet to spank anyone, Elaine, and as I remember it, it was you who switched the Blood Wine…

SULE looks puzzled with the chatter between the two women.

SULE

Blood Wine! Is there such a beverage that sounds so delightful and delicious?

Both ELAINE and PETA burst out laughing to take an arm each of SULE.

ELAINE (TO SULE)

Of course there is, Sule, would you like some?

SULE looks to SILAS for support.

PETA (TO SULE)

They say that just one sip can make any Creatic feel invincible and beautiful, but only one sip.

ELAINE (TO PETA)

(smiles mischievously)

Of course, it doesn’t work for everyone…Creya, for instance! (laughs along with PETA).

SULE

Maybe some other time! (he is a little cautious). My attention has been called to Borello…!

SILAS approaches SULE with a kind gesture of offering him a cigarette from an open packet. SULE accepts and takes a single cigarette, while SILAS lights it with his lighter.

SILAS (TO SULE)

I am heading to Evermore in a few hours, maybe I can offer you a lift and keep you company while we travel, Sule?

SULE (TO SILAS)

Evermore!

SILAS (TO SULE)

Yes, I have an appointment with the Overseer there, Lady St. John, she is quite a woman?

SULE nods.

SULE (TO SILAS)

Lady St. John, yes, of course. I have met her on quite a few occasions during my visits to Borello and La Luna Bay in the East…very high spirited, if I may say?

Both PETA and ELAINE release SULE’s arms and allow him to stand freely. SULE is worried by something.

SILAS (TO SULE)

Beautiful!

SULE (TO SILAS)

Excuse me?

SILAS (TO SULE)

The word you are looking for, it is beautiful! Lady St. John has but one relationship to her name, one which was ended by a Paroxinate Assassin – Danielle La Grande, if I’m not too mistaken?

ELAINE gives a bored moan.

ELAINE

Not this story again, Silas, please! How many times have you told this now?

SILAS raises a hand to silence ELAINE.

SILAS (TO EVERYONE)

It is not the story that interests people, Elaine, but the people who are within its plot. Would you like to hear the story, Sule, before we leave on our journey?

SULE looks at the faces of both ELAINE and PETA, their expressions pleading him to say “NO” – SULE, however, chooses to take his own lead and smiles at SILAS.

SULE (TO SILAS)

Yes. Yes, I would love to hear the story. (makes his way over to the nearby sofa and sits down).

ELAINE and PETA accompany SULE on the sofa, while SILAS makes his way to stand by the open log fire. As he prepares to tell the story, ELAINE looks at SULE and gives a short wink.

ELAINE (TO SULE)

Do you believe Lady St. John is beautiful, Sule?

SULE (TO ELAINE)

I…I don’t know, I haven’t really looked at her in that way.

SILAS taps his Brandy glass with his long finger nails to get the attention of the three, while clearing his throat.

SILAS (TO EVERYONE)

Once Upon A Time…!

ELAINE sighs loudly, interrupting SILAS.

SILAS shouts up from the beginning.

SILAS (TO EVERYONE)

ONCE UPON A TIME… (speaks softer) There lived a young woman by the name of Sapphire St. John, who had not a penny to her name, just the clothes she wore on her back. She was young, beautiful and talented with the gift of stealth. Her parents were both dead, though in many cases like Sapphire’s, where the child would be taken away to an Orphanage, Sapphire was not. (moves to the drinks cabinet and refills his glass with Brandy) You see, for the young and beautiful Sapphire, her fate was to be something else, and something much worse! We have all heard the wandering stories of The Paroxinate Order…have we not?

Everyone nods their heads.

SILAS (CONT’D)

Sapphire St. John was taken in by a Priest, one who believed not in the icons of religion of those days, but who did, like many others, believe in Gods. His mere caring for this young, unfortunate and desperate girl brought a shine to the Priest, one which was looked upon as sinful by those of his peers. The true code of The Paroxinate, is that Love is not a way to discipline, but a way to taint and corrupt the student. He was taken away and executed. As for the young girl, Sapphire, she was banished from the Order and told that if she ever returned to Bryn, then she would be facing the very same fate as the Priest. Today, Lady Sapphire St. John sits as Overseer to Evermore Manor, her keeping the peace with the buckled neighbouring town of Borello firmly upheld…do you know why this is, Sule?

SULE is taken by surprise of the question.

SULE (TO SILAS)

Because she believes in freedom?

ELAINE and PETA snigger a laugh. SILAS glares at the two women with a warning to their rudeness.

SILAS (TO SULE)

(sighs into his glass)

Freedom! Huh, is it not freedom that has man believe he is free, and yet, he is merely just loosened from the grip of imprisonment?

SULE (TO SILAS)

You’re quoting Lord Cavendish! Why would you quote the words of a man who…?

SILAS (TO SULE)

(becomes impatient)

Lady St. John is one of us, Sule, and that is why she brings no more pain down on a town that is pitied by the Gods and protected by a young beautiful woman such as herself. So, on your next visit to Borello, you may want to take stock of yourself, and worry about those who will rise against the Overseer…

Suddenly, from the Lounge door CREYA appears.

SILAS, ELAINE, PETA and SULE are surprised by her quick entry, as much as SILAS is to the fact that CREYA looks angrily at him with a stare that is cold.

SILAS (TO CREYA)

Ah, Creya, I was just…

CREYA (TO SILAS)

SHUT UP!

SILAS (TO CREYA)

But I was just…

CREYA (TO SILAS)

(screams at the top of her voice)

I SAID SHUT UP, Silas!

SILAS silences his tongue and stands embarrassed.

CREYA (TO EVERYONE)

I would like everyone, except for Silas, to leave. Now.

Without any further reasoning ELAINE, PETA and SULE stand and leave the room before close the door behind them.

CREYA takes a seat where SULE sat, crossing her hands over her knees she composes herself while still looking at SILAS standing at the fireplace.

CREYA

(calm)

That was a nice story you told Sule, Silas.

SILAS

Thank you, Creya

CREYA

(angrily)

I wasn’t fucking complimenting you, Silas! Sit down.

SILAS makes his way over to CREYA and sits down on the sofa next to her, his eyes looking straight ahead.

CREYA (CONT’D)

(turns to face him)

We have been safe here in Okston, very few outsiders know that we are here, and by WE I do mean our kind. While The Dawn Seeker Order put out their assassin’s to rid us, so, too, do we put out our own to rid them. Times are changing, Silas, our kind are changing – we are changing!

SILAS

(fidgety)

If I may…

CREYA

(rasps loudly)

No you may not! (stands to her feet and walks to the fireplace). How much does Sapphire St. John know about us?

SILAS is shaking with fear.

SILAS

Nothing…

CREYA

Liar! How much does she know of our kind in Okston?

SILAS

Nothing…I mean, I know they know we exist here, but they know very little of how many…!

CREYA

(turns to SILAS)

It used to be that they only had the word of drunken Peddlers and Merchants claiming that we existed. Now…now, we are the centre point of interest between the Orders and Hunters alike. And you, Silas, do they know of you being one of us – does Sapphire know what you are?

SILAS stands and walks up to CREYA, his face red with embarrassment and fear. Lifting a shaking hand he puts it to CREYA’s face and gives a strained smile.

SILAS

My visits to Evermore are few and far between the regular travels that I do, she knows not what I am, she knows nothing of Okston and you, other than you are a good woman, Creya. There have been no killings around here in months, maybe even a whole year…

CREYA

(takes a hold of his hand and kisses it)

We are a dying breed, Silas, you are special, as are all of my family here in this town. I don’t make decisions to punish you, I just make decisions because I am forced to make them, I hope that you understand?

SILAS nods while looking puzzled.

SILAS

The man upstairs…

CREYA

A secret, Silas, that is what he is, and that is what he will remain.

SILAS

Very well.

Leaning into CREYA, SILAS kisses her gently on the cheek before giving a short bow.

SILAS (CONT’D)

I shall go and get ready for my trip to Evermore, my escort will be here soon to take myself and Sule.

CREYA stops him.

CREYA

Wait! Sule is going with you?

SILAS

Sule is going to Borello

CREYA

Two of my Council traveling to two different locations in the same car, is that wise, Silas?

SILAS

Sule has been keeping something back from us, I thought that it be better to find out exactly what that something is?

CREYA

No.

SILAS becomes curious.

SILAS

No? Do you not want to know what it is that he is keeping to himself?

CREYA

I already know what he is keeping to himself, Silas, I just don’t want you knowing what he knows, that’s all!

SILAS

I don’t understand!

CREYA walks slowly up to SILAS, her arms outstretched as if to beckon him forward for a hug. And the very moment he is close enough, CREYA’s eyes change (SFX Transformation into a Werewolf) before striking out at SILAS’s throat, his inability to react allow the long claws from CREYA’s hands to cut deep, slice and tear away his wind pipe.

SILAS is stood still, his hands clasping at his bleeding throat, his eyes glazed with a look of both sadness and surprise. Seconds later SILAS’s body collapses to the floor – he is dead.

CREYA

I am so sorry, my love, but if the world was to know of our secret here, there would be nothing to stop them bringing about our very extinction.

FADE OUT.
